my first attempt. more in a bit, as we are taking it so, so slowly today. i have a few shots of our backyard swamp that i will put up soon. as for this picture, there is a sweet story. my aunt nancy gave it to me last week, at our family gathering. it has chiming little bells inside. the strange twist is that i also gave her a heart, at this very same gathering. the one from me was made in kenya, of soapstone, which feels nice in the hand. hand painted, with bright polka-dots. cheery.
you may or may not recall that aunt nancy is my most favorite and wondrous auntie.
i have adored her since the beginning of my life. she has a.l.s., which sucks more than most anything i can imagine. and yet, she is tough, and funny, and herself-always.
neither of us planned to exchange hearts. but we did, and i am still amazed at this silly little coincidence. it made my holiday complete.
