"my boy bill"

i had to post about him because i got to watch him tonight, after a three-month hiatus. i missed his show, and there are few shows i watch anymore these days.
chris rock was one of the people on the panel-another favorite. then there were the two obligatory scary republicans. one was asa hutchison, the other a kellyanne conway, who looked a helluva lot like ann coulter. (shudder)

my favorite part of the show was right after his "new rules" segment, when he launched into a rant about evolution vs. intelligent design. he argued that sometimes there ISN'T another side to an issue, like when scientists universally believe that we did indeed evolve from apes, the argument for intelligent design becomes totally absurd. as joseph campbell once pointed out... "they found the bones." i keep wondering why that is so difficult to accept... why is it so wrong to some that we evolved from animals? do we fancy ourselves better?

i am much more comfortable with aligning myself with the earth and it's creatures, than a fairy tale with no basis in reality. but that's just me.

i love that bill maher!

Bill has the stuff down. I like Chris Rock, also. One of the most intelligent guys I thought, is George Carlin. the S/C introduced me to him thru Johnny Carson. I miss that tonight show theme coming in thru the night. He seemed like an 'uncle' or something.
I feel I am quasi-religious. I was raised Catholic, and even went to a all-male catholic high. Where all the other males in my family went. Back to the 1900's.
The thing was the s/c and the stewardess always promoted using your brain. So I got in this quandry about what the hell was being taught in religion, vs. what science said.
So in my always roaming mind, I figures that maybe, since all these religions seem to be saying the same spiel, that the book writers - bible, koran, torah, whateva - were dumbing down the evolution fact to make it palapable to the masses - marketing 101 s to speak. Shit Adam and Eve the oney vs. Adam & Eve the chimp. Diff? So what. If everyone could get beyond the religion label, and see the material, maybe we might all get along.

Annne Coulter- shudder.

I am sure you seen the blog on her. That is classic.

Definitely not family friendly but sooooo funny.

No spam here. Maybe just mind spam.

Aloha.

RQM raves about Mahler...but I don't have HBO so I don't see him. I do enjoy his "chats" with Larry King from time to time. Kellyanne is indeed an Ann C clone. They both give women a bad rap if you ask me...but then look what Asa does for men!

hawaiianmark-my honey and i get to see carlin in october, in santa rosa! it will be one of the most thrilling times ever, for both of us-we love him. i miss johnny's vibe too. he was/is the king. And-i am a recovering catholic girl-including catholic school! i have beliefs, but they are more freeform, and i consider them personal, unlike many others!! as for ann coulter, yep-i have seen that blog-yikes! but it is really funny.

stb-re: bill maher... we cancel hbo when he isn't around, start up when he's back. i had not had the pleasure of being aqquainted with kellyanne until last night. eek, what is it with some of these repub.women?
michelle malkin is extra-spooky too. my feeling is they set women in this country back, every time they speak. have a nice sunday.

missed this one before Annie,

I can't get that show..*sniff*...I used to LOVE Politically Incorrect. It got a 'tad' annoying when he kept ranting about legalizing marijuana. I don't have a personal issue against it but it just got old hearing about it all the time. I loved the show over all though. I think it is a crime against democracy that it got taken off the air. The show was ABOUT free opinions and the expression there of. The very thing democracy is SUPPOSED to be about. Seems strange that this is the very system the USA and it's allies say they are trying to develope in Iraq when it seems the "powers that be" don't really know how to define it!
