A transit of the Moon across the face of the Sun on February 25, 2007 - but not seen from Earth. This sight was visible only from the STEREO-B spacecraft in its orbit about the sun, trailing behind the Earth. NASA's STEREO mission consists of two spacecraft launched in October, 2006 to study solar storms. STEREO-B is currently about 1 million miles from the Earth, 4.4 times farther away from the Moon than we are on Earth. As the result, the Moon appears 4.4 times smaller than what we are used to. Pictures like these put it all in perspective. You know? As if any of our trite little human struggles matter, in the grand scheme of it all. Ha!

This is stunning. It almost calls me to rethink my position on the space program, which is, in a nutshell, "let's take care of our oceans first."
Love it!
THAT is awesome!! thanks, annie...perspective, yup yup...

tooooo cool, annie!
I love being put in my place...really...we are so insignificant and that is a good good thing.
i have never been a nasa buff, but the globe's recent photos really grabbed me. nothing like deep space to remind me of my place in all of this.
I face the day with my head caved in
Looking like something that the cat brought in....
awesome pic; I wish my kids could keep in mind the kind of perspective pictures like this provide - I raised 'em up saying we are stardust, we are golden ... but they turned out to be packrats anyway, very much of this world, with a whole lotta stuff that I now have to pack for the Big Move to Town! well, I'll keep it in mind anyway, thanks, Annie=)
Perhaps we'll be finding a few more photos like this if someone decides they're important instead of something that "goes against their religion"...
Truly beautiful!
