I told someone earlier today that this had much more to do with the questions and who was being asked than any reflection of truth. I am going to send this as a much better explanation.
I also tried to quote Mark Twain in that comment, not realizing (or forgetting) the exact quotation:
"Figures often beguile me, particularly when I have the arranging of them myself; in which case the remark attributed to Disraeli would often apply with justice and force: 'There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies and statistics.'"
- Autobiography of Mark Twain
In looking that one up, I found one even more appropriate to McCaint and Co.:
"The most outrageous lies that can be invented will find believers if a man only tells them with all his might."
- Letter to San Francisco Alta California, dated May 17, 1867; published June 16, 1867
I like watching Chuck Todd play 'Risk' with the blue states and red states and the flickering states - on his high tech touch screen monitor thingy. Most of the scenarios he comes up with are lookin good for Obama. Last night on Race to the White House, he was saying that Obama has more 'routes' or scenarios available to him - - more states are in play for him than there were for Kerry.
Alan emailed me the link to the Huffington article, which reminded me it's been since forever since I stopped in to say hi.
Funny, the mood at our local campaign office yesterday was very gloomy after the bounce, but today it was downright jovial. Maybe some of them saw the article.
Tomorrow we're working the local college campus for voter reg. Mostly our registration drives have been on the local beaches and at special events and festivals and at events downtown, so the schools aren't even directly tapped into yet.
Our county clerk gets PISSED every time we bring in a stack of freshly filled out forms. Finally she said, "You know, you could make my life a lot easier if you'd drop these off every other day rather than once a week."
i'm in a state of perpetual bliss cuz i live in a blue state (jerzy in da houzzzzeee =) and i'm signing up kids every single day...they are kids, tho, and even tho they are pumped at the moment they are filling out their 1st voter registration form, who knows if they will actually make it to the machine on election day...but i don't worry...we love obama where i live...can't get any bluer than this...
the real test is when i go into pa this coming weekend...
doing whatever one woman can to make sure this thing flies...
I saw this article at Huffington Post and was quite heartened by it. I think the Republicans are going to self-destruct. I'm waiting for that wonderful, explosive moment. They can't run on hot-air and bullshit forever.
I have been hearing all day about the Palin bounce and how Obama seems to be losing popularity. Opinion polls are fickle things and as someone above mentioned, it depends on who is asked and how the question is phased. Does make it exciting though as long as Obama triumphs in the end.

Hope so!
Brian keeps telling me not to worry about the polls....
Thanks for the funny picture! I think the election will be won by the Democrats, despite the noise of the moment.
Since when have poll numbers become real news anyways?
Amen, sister! Great pic.
