tomorrow, august 8th is the 31st anniversary of richard milhaus nixon's resignation. he was the first president in history to do so. as a kid of 17 at the time, i remember realizing that politics had become a huge joke. things have not improved,
to say the least.

I forget how I came here, but damn I remember Nixon, I remember feeling so stupid being the only child of a democratic family in a school fulla republican rich-kid, asswipes. Self image be damnded! Then the end result of him being exorcised, what a feeling of joy!
i guess we havent really gone to far on the evolutionary scale, 'tho.
Anyone who knows the lyrics to dead songs, CSNY, (specifically Y) is good people in my book.
nice work!
Aloha.
We definitely continued devolving when Reagan took office, and it hasn't stopped.
No wonder the $hrub looks like a chimp ;-)
Apologies to chimps everywhere.
Oh hey, I was at a Bonnie Raitt concert in Philly, and she came onstage and announced his resignation! I wasn't much older than you at the time, Annie--knew we were 'sisters' right away!
:)
Now, if only Bush would do the same for our country...(sigh)
"...The president signed the Energy Policy Act of 2005 at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque. Sandia is a U.S. Department of Energy facility managed by Lockheed Martin that specializes in renewable energy development, like wind and solar power, and infrastructure stability and continuity...."
Nearly 80% of Lockheed Martin's customer base is with the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. federal government agencies. I wonder how hard Lockheed is pushing for alternative energy sources with the crazy, oil-greedy administration we currently have?
Better yet, I wonder how many different altenatives are already available but not yet privy to the public?
I was 18 in August 1974 and driving around in my little yellow v-dub with my 'Impeach Nixon' bumper sticker.
How thoughtful of Tricky Dick that he impeached himself. Now if only Baby Bush would show the country the same consideration.
Thank you Blogzie..I second that!
STB
thanks for saying aloha, hawaiian mark!~your blog=cool. love that n.young. have you read "shakey" ?
little sister-man, these times make the reagan years seem like a cake walk. yikes!
taza-i've loved bonnie since back then as well. seems like we have walked a similar path or two, you and i!
abouta~i visualize him resigning regularly. but maybe he'd have trouble with pronunciation, who knows? the energy act he signed is an awful thing, the more you learn about what it is and who it helps.
blogzie... i can totally picture you in the yellow vdub, and wasn't it grand when nixon got his payback? why isn't that happening now?
howdy, stb! thanks for being in agreement with blogzie being in agreement with me. huh?
nigela~ re: bush resigning- stranger things have happened, right? it sure-as-hell seems like a lot of people want him to step down. more all the time.
